I've been having problems with my key fobs for a few years or so. One original one just plain stopped working and the second original one seemed to work OK but not as good as when I first bought my C-5. I tried new batteries in both but I still got the same results. I purchased a new GM key fob a few months back. For a while it seemed to be OK and now it works sometimes OK at a short distance but the next time it will only work after I try it a few times while standing right next to my C-5. I've synchronized, it, but still that didn't help. Any suggestions?

dadaroo,
My TPM sensors have always worked . I pulled up U1096H, U1064H, U1016H. I think those are un-related to my key fob problem (I seem to remember checking the connections at the BCM when I had an issue with my C-5 not wanting to stay started). I took apart my key fob and that chip or whatever is not loose and the soldering appears to be OK. Hmmmmmm. I even checked my original key fobs and they look OK. I see no difference between them except the board in the newest one is a little different. Thanks dadaroo.

You did not say under what module those codes showed up under. Makes a difference.

Unless you are very experienced in recognizing a bad solder joint you will not know. I am and I still didn't see an issue with my HVAC resistors but I did them anyway and it fixed my issue.

Did you pull your codes AFTER you turned the ignition OFF? If so, the codes would only show as H. One needs to pull them BEFORE you turn the ignition OFF. Delete them and see if they come back.

dadaroo, I pulled the codes before I turned the ignition off. Those were the same codes I was getting when I had a ground problem which caused my C-5 to keep stalling. I had fixed the ground problems a while back but I still noticed these codes kept coming back even though that cured my stalling problem. That's when I started checking the BCM and PCM connections which were secure. So my guess is these codes may not be related to my key fob issue. I don't know how I'll ever be able to re-solder those minute spots even with a large magnifying glass. I hate to buy another key fob as you know there not inexpensive. So what do you think?
Thanks, Lakotah

Try a local electronics store or Ham radio club. You could also send me one of them and I can do the soldering and see if that fixes it. I can't test it here since I have the newer design.

dadaroo,
The only one I would feel good about sending to you is the one I use. The other two I'm sure are not worth it with my tinkering around with them. Maybe I better see what the return policy is at the dealership where I purchased the one I'm using now. You know, I find it curious that two out of three key fobs function with the same symptoms. And the third one appeared to just give up. Even taking the whole small circuit board out of the pod case and inspecting them with a magnifying glass and physically trying to see if detected even the slightest movement they seemed to all look the same. I guess I could not rely on my key fob for a while and send mine to you. I don't know, let me see what I can do from here. Thanks dadaroo.

10-4.

BTW, don't expect a cold solder joint to be loose.
