On my 1999 Vette (automatic) I am in need of replacing the idler and belt tensioner, has anyone out there replaced them and can you give me a step by step process of repairs. It looks like the automatic transmission lines are right in front of the tensioner, doesn't leave much room for removal and replacement. Help. Doc

Tensioner

I'm assuming that you are speaking of the AUX tensioner. I had the same problem. There is a tranny line bracket just above the tensioner, remove one side. Follow the lines towards the rear of the car. You will find another bracket, loosen this bracket. This will give you enough wiggle room to separate the lines and compress the tensioner pulley. I put gator back belts on my 99. They seemed to fit a little snugger, causing a need to competely compress the pulley. Hope this helps.

Aux Tenioner

Golf Man I thak you for your response, you are the first and only one to respond to this thread, I thought that maybe there was no one out there that had replaced the aux airconditioner tensioner. On my own I finished the job with the help of a female third hand, thanks again. Doc
