1990 L98 Coupe
:mad New Corvette owner looking for help. Always wanted one but never thought I could afford it. Retired USMC and my brother-in-law had a bud going through a nasty devorce. Anyway I got a 1990 Coupe L98 with 66k for $3500 garage kept and rides great. Wife drove it back from MD to NC with no problems. Put a Corsa cat back changed all filters and fluids and it was running great. On a short trip to Lowes it died. AAA towed it home. Got 40psi FP at the rail, good spark. If I waite a day it will run for 10-15 sec then die. Ohm metered the injectors and I am not pleased they are stock. 3 are 16-16.2, 1 is 10.8, 3 are 6.4,8.8 and 9.2, and 1 is 0.1. Got some litrature and can trouble shoot. Thinking about FIC TYpe 3 injectors just trying to lock it down. I've read some good stuff on here and just want my new child to get the best care. Semper Fi.

With a injector resistance as low as some of those #'s the ECM will shut down the whole bank of injectors.
Time to give Jon a call for new injectors.I think you will appreciate the difference as many others have.:thumb

I think your on the right track with injectors , a dead short in the injector could cause the ECM to self protect and shut down the injector circuit .

I installed FIC injectors and am very happy. Three yr warranty.

Light at the End of the Tunnel

kept digging through the tech sections and yes. That injector with the 0.0 ohm reading shut down the whole sysyem. Went out in the rain pulled the plug on that one and the thing fired instantly. Plugged it back in and it died within 10 secs. Going to order the injectors. Any suggests? Standerd Bosch III 22lbs or the newer Blue Demon Pearls...any benifit for the extra $60. Thanks for Help All. Semper Fi.

Ask Jon at FIC. He will tell you with no bull.

Get the Bosch lll design. They are a better design in my opinion (better spray pattern). I have bought two sets and they work great.

Roger That! talked with Jon today and put the Bosch III"s on order. After talking with him about the injector to ECM shut down makes you wonder just how many misdiagnosed Corvettes, Camaros and F-Birds are out there dead just waiting for good injectors. Thanks All. Semper Fi.

Good diagnostics. :thumb Most folks would have bought by now a fuel pump, fuel filter, battery, starter, air filter, wiper blades, horn relay, air freshener, etc., and a litany of other parts, in a blind attempt to 'diagnose'.

You're 45 miles from near-about the best wrench/C4 help available if you ever get this way ;) ...

... makes you wonder just how many misdiagnosed Corvettes, Camaros and F-Birds are out there ...

About 99% of cars get NO diagnostics done properly, IF at all. They get random parts replaced blindly, with a 'Plug and Pray' repair approach.

I'll get over it. My parts retailers index fund has held its' own against the market slides for many years, and they'll continue to do so as long as people (and mechanics) don't learn to diagnose properly ;) :thumb

Smooth Running

After a half day gettinr it apart(rained out) Put the Bosch IIIs from FIC in got it back together and it runs great. Much better throttle control and the rough idle after warming up(closed loop) is totally gone. Still going to get me the shop manuals but this web-site and Jon at FIC did the trick. Went ahead and put on a adjustable feul reg. Running at 40psi good any reqs on tuning with feul pressure or can the BoschIIIs handle more.
