can somone tell me if the sil plates on a 64 have 4 screws each or 6 screws each?? and i would like to know on the center console around the shifter (chrome plate) mine is a little scratched up and i have it outta the car now but i notice there is no screws to pop it out,,,do the re built kits they have for it just go from the top of the original? or is there another way of putting in the new one?? and the ashtray cover too?? thanks

If I remember correctly (which is doubtful) '64 's had both 4 and 6 hole sill plates. I can't remember exactly when during the model year they changed but I will try to look through my references and see if I can find when the change took place. For a reference for now my '64 conv has 4 hole sill plates and was bulit on Feb 28 with a serial number of 12311. Hope this helps!

My '64 has 4 screws in each sill plate. To install the rebuild kit you have to peel the old product out and the new one goes back in with the sticky side down. To install the ashtray cover all you do is slide it out from the bottom. There are two plastic slots you slide the new one into. If I remember correctly you may have to slightly lift up on the cover(from the bottom) to remove it.
