Just recently I have started hearing a whisting (or ringing) sound every time I hit the accelerator pedal. It seems around 2000 rpm then goes away. But when I hit the pedal again I hear it again. Could his be the fuel pump making noise? Has anyone heard something similar? Thanx in advance.

From where does the noise seem to be coming? The fuel pump is behind you. If it's coming form the engine, it could be the noise described in this Technical Service Bulletin found in the CAC Knowledgebase.

I'm sure some C5 owners will chime in soon to offer more insight.

Eric, It's not coming from behind me. It sounds like it's coming from the engine. That tech bullitin you refered me to sounds like the same exact problem. My car is no longer under warrenty, so changing out the intake manifold seems pretty drastic (and expensive). And if there is a problem with the intake manifolds wouldn't you think there would be a recall? Anyone else have this problem?

I have the notorious manifold whistle in my 2001 LS1. It occurs under light throttle (10% or so) around 2000 rpm and is more noticable in cold ambient. Mine is still under warranty, but I don't find it so objectionable that I would risk having the dealership change out the manifold.

same prob

I don't know, mine is intermitent, but it sounds like the same prob. If it's under warrenty, I would have it done. It may not bother you now, but maybe it will get worse. Or maybe when you try and sell yours to get that 2007 it will be harder to sell. But like my old shop teacher from High Shcool always said, if you hear a noise in your car that bothers you, just turn up the radio................................peace

Hi folks , I noticed today that there was a whisting noise coming from behind the drivers side wheel . could that be the fuel pump ?
If so , any suggestions other then taking it in and let them check it out in the shop?
thanks a million
John
