I have learned that there are no shift improver kits available for the 2002 a4 cars unless you reprogram the computer. Is there someone in the Houston area that can help? I have read that just using a Predator or Hypertech just raises the line pressure and will lessen the life of the trans. I want a firmer shift.
Thanks.

Have you thought of a Transgo kit? I am considering that - they come well recommended.

C4C5 recommended that kit. I called those people and you have to go into the computer and do some reprogramming. They said that if the person doing the work doesn't know what they are doing, it wouldn't work properly.

You would want any reprogramming done by an expert in LS1 Edit. You could reprogram fans for lower starts to keep cooler in traffic at the same time, and, if the guy is a good tuner, tune the computer for optimum power, too. This is what I am going to do this fall, too. I'd guess $400.00 or so, and Texas has some awesome Corvette people - LG, etc.

One thing Hib Halverson and C4C5 have both advised me against is removing torque management, as that will leave your A4 exposed to all the torque your motor makes at once, and shorten the tranny's life. If you go up in power very much, you'll want to go through the tranny anyway - then TM can go.

Best regards

Thanks for the replies, but do not need a tuner for the A4. Just last weekend traded it for a Z06. Oh Happy Days!!!!

Congratulations!! I'd like a Z16 myself - I have to wait, though, because I'll never trade my coupe!

Best of luck:beer

It is a 2001, with only 2900 miles on it. It is yellow. Just changed the oil in it. I had a '99 FRC and traded it on the '02 because it was Yellow, but it was an auto. Had to have a stick. They are just so much more fun. That is why I traded down a year, but I wouldn't have traded unless it was Yellow.
