Hi all ,
Several of you requested on my "Introduction" thread that I give an update on my transmission problem. Turns out that the real culprit was the transmission output shaft, which had been machined improperly (two holes drilled where they shouldn't have been). The attached picture shows the shaft and the holes. I'm told only two are necessary. Note the hole in the gear area and the hole furthest to the right. These are the ones I was told were unnecessary, and the one furthest on the right was on the outer seal - causing the leak (I believe about 70# internal pressure ???). The replacement shaft had only two holes.
I've had the car for the afternoon and everything seems fine so far.
Regardless - it still looks hot - still or moving.
(for hi res pictures of shaft & case send email)
