2003 50Th Corvette
I was in RiVERTON , Utah saturday at the Riverton Chevrolet dealership there and they have a 2004 Corvette on the showroom floor.. it is red and looks a lot like the 2003's

Sounds about right to me.

Sounds about right since they started building the 2004s around the first week of July. After they are assembled and ran through numerous tests they sit on the BG assembly plant grounds for two weeks in case any parts are recalled by vendors. Then they can be shipped to your dealer. Go check it out, i haven't seen one yet but i heard there is very little changed from 03. Don't forget to wave! :Steer

I became the proud owner of a 2004 coupe last week, and it's true that very little, if anything has changed from 2003. The really good news is that it also pertains to the price. The base price went up just $100 and most, if not all the options have remained the same price.

Can you tell me... besides the small increase in price... what changed? Oh' by the way congrats and don't forget to wave!:Steer

Thanks. I'm close to the end of the break-in mileage (430) and so far I love it. Honestly, I don't know what, if anything has changed on the standard coupe. As far as I know, it's the same as the '03, but maybe some of our technical friends out there can fill us in on the details.

You betcha I wave, just like when I'm riding my bike. It reminds me of many moons ago when I had a '63 VW Beetle. Great comradery.

The Folsom Chevrolet dealership informed me that there is no changes between the 03 and 04 except one is 50th anniversary and commemorative.:D

Hi there,
This is incorrect. The have been numerous changes, including a massive change in fuel delivery. A midyear revision in the fuel delivery system, changed all tanks, fuel pumps, supply lines.
PCM programming, sound deadening in the rear on convertible.
If you would like me to go on, I will.

C4c5specialist,

You are the man!:_rock This is what I get for listening to those guys. They are not that deep into the Vette. The are about selling and making a dollar........$50,000 worth! :Buttslap

Thank you for the correction!

Hi there,
First, fuel system has been completely changed for better reliability. During midproduction, 2003, they changed everything, for increased reliability, better noise reduction of the fuel pump, less hydrocarbon emissions, and better fuel gauge reliability. The fuel system is coded, FFS.
Next, engine refinements, include a new timing chain dampener and guide, to increase reliability during high rpm usage. Also, the PCV system on LS1 has now been upgraded to LS6 specifications, using a valley cover system instead of the rocker arm covers.
Torque specs, mechanical revisions, and noise diagnostics have also been changed for the 04 powertrains.
You can only service internal pistons, as an assembly, with rods, pistons, and pins.
For 04, FE4 or ZO6 suspensions have been very refined, with completely redesigned shock settings and valving, for absolute control over irregular road surfaces.
F55 suspension, has been tweaked a little bit in the programming area, to further make this suspension even better.
Rear B pillar pods are changed, to produce less noise.
As I have shown, Corvette quality improvement continues, even though this is the last year of c5.

Thanks for the additional info on the 2004, c4c5! All those changes for a measly $100 increase in base price for the '04 coupe.

c4c5specialist,

Thanks - tell me more about the rear sound deadening for the convertible.

My coupe has too much road noise and I would like to add sound deadening material - If the engineers added something that works I would like to use it.

Does my 2003 AE Vert (built in June) have those upgrades? Just wondering if I have the '04 improvements in my '03.

04 CE roadster

I'm picking up my 2004 Commemorative Edition roadster at the Museum on Tuesday morning (8am scheduled appt). Ordered 6 speed, F55 suspension, 1SC package, 12disc, and every option available for this model ($59150 MSPR). You can see the car and me on the NCM webcam on Tuesday morning.

Ordered it several months ago and the day to pick it up is almost here. Flying to Nashville on Monday and then driving from BG on Tuesday to Michigan (old home) for a few days (MSU football game on the 30th) and then driving back to Nevada. Good break-in time with lots of different scenery on the way home as will go through Denver and the Rockies, etc.

My 6th Vette and 4th new one (new in '66, '68, '92, '04). I'll wave on the way if I see you.

Sounds like you have the trip of a lifetime planned mtcrsr

Enjoy the ride home and take it easy the first few 100s miles.
