Living a dream...
Does any one have any information about the 2004 CZ06? Dave Hill has announced that something will be different on the 2004 CZ06 that Corvette has never had before. I got the heads up from the C5regisrty-hot news section, but I am not a member to figure out what they are trying to say. Any informtion would be greatly appreciated. I am not sure what the C stands for either. Please help. Thank you

Hi there,
The Z16 package is what is being spoken of here.
This will entail special performance upgrades, with revised interior colors, and limited production numbers from ZO6.
This will also be more costly, but absolutely worth it.

Is this kind of like what they did for the C4 in terms of the GS? If it is, then does it mean that the C5 is coming near the end of the run?

c5 is at the end

Edmond,

I think 2004 is the last year for the C5. Gm already announced
2005 is the model year for C6. I wasn't even sure they'd make
C5 in 2004, but it looks like the schedule has slipped so they will.

I've heard some pretty wild stuff, but since it was inside information I'm not at liberty to share. I think people will really be excited about this car when they finally see and hear about it.

HI there,
Brian is right on the money.
The unveiling will be Sat, April 25, at the c5 birthday bash, at the NCM.

Yup, and Paul and I will be there. Will you?

Now you guys have done it!! The anticipation of what is coming is gonna kill us. I can't wait to hear, read, and see this.

I'll be there! Can hardly wait!

Zippy :) :)

Ceramic Composite Brake rotors that reduce the unsprung weight of the rotors by 30%..

How much do our present rotors weigh? I'll take a guess at about 20 lbs...30% of that? 6 lbs..per rotor..= 24lbs..or about the same amount that the 2001 Z06 was able to reduce unsprung weight by dumping the standard C5's runflats..

Anyone whose driven a car with and without runflats would know that was a hefty improvement ..

I believe there is a 1 to 4 ratio when comparing performance improvements in sprung versus unsprung weight..

So we can assume a performance improvement similiar to dropping 100 lbs of sprung weight with a production changeover to CCM rotor from Brembo..

All this is just a guess of what will happen..

Same for the hp improvement to either 425 hp or 445hp..

This is based off of what GM did with the last year of the C4 whereby the LT1 was improved by 10% and called the LT4..

10% of 405 hp = 40 hp..

Should be worth a few laughs ..whatever happens..

I just hope its not a decorative or badge only package..

That would be quite a disappointment. (IMHO)

I say we have some good times ahead!

JB,

I'm sure that everyone here is hoping that GM sends the C5 out with the same style they did with the C4. A badge would be a big disappointment.

Don't want to pee in anyone's Cherios, but look at the 50th...;)
