Im looking to get a 2004r tranny very soon and rebuild it and slap it in the Vette. THeres one in particular that Im looking at but dont know if there going to be any issues as far as bolt holes and splines.

Can anyone tell me how many bolt holes the tranny is going to need to have? Also can you give me a brief explanation of splines and as as to where they are and how many is needed for the vette. The tranny came out of a 1986 Fleetwood Brougham Cadillac. They also said it has no kickdown, whats that mean. Just that it doesnt come with the TV cable to make it kickdown in to 3rd when needed? Is that a prblem that can be remedy'd? Thanx

Im in noway an expert or even a novice when it comes to trannys, but bolt holes? Im guessing yr asking about the rear mounting ? there should be 2 bolts like the th350,or th400. but besides that the length might be different. not sure which trannts are the same length ?. the splines are the ridges that are on the shaft that the drive shaft slip yoke slides onto, you count the ridges and that gives you the spline count, and kickdown? (I probly not correct on this but?), pretend yr driving up a steep hill, the engine starts to bog? now if you have a manuel tranny, youll downshift.in the auto tranny world same thing happens ,but its automatic, the tranny downshifts on its own. my 94 chevy does it and I learned about this when at a shop. the kickdown cable is for adjusting the point at when the downshifting occures? (I think? like I said Im no geinouess).hopefully someone else with Lots LOTS more experience can help. but atleast this can give you info to ask more questions...

There are 2 differant cases used for the 200R4. The BOP case has 7 bolt holes on the bellhousing mounting flange. This transmission will not bolt up to a small block Chevy.
The case that you want is the dual use case that has 10 bolt holes in the bellhousing flange. Do not count the 2 guide pin holes as bolt holes. You can tell the guide pin holes because they are a larger diameter than the bolt holes.

OK so Im looking for a case w/10 holes on the bell housing thank you. I had to pass on that particular one but im still in desperate need of one so Im still looking.
