Subject: 2005/2006 Corvette Roofs Delamination or Separation - Service Information for 2005/2006 Corvette with Painted Roofs that May Come Detached from the Roof Frame Expiration

Date: 11/01/2006

Customer Satisfaction Program 05112D addresses all 2005 Corvettes and 2006 through VIN 31106. If a customer has a concern and the VIN is within these break points the bulletin can be used to correct the condition even though the VIN is not listed in VIS. If the VIN is not listed in VIS dealers should use labor operation B2308 and use the time that is supplied in bulletin 05112D.

Roofs that are partially delaminated or debonded can be repaired using the procedure outlined in Bulletin 05112D. When the roof remains attached on one of the four sides it can be repaired and the vehicle placed back into service. Bulletin 05112D outlines this is as a temporary repair until a replacement roof can be obtained. Once a roof is properly repaired with the foam process, test indicate the roof will not separate from the frame. If a roof is completely delaminated it should not be reattached. A safety recall is being initiated and will be released as soon as adequate parts supply is obtained. Regular coupe Corvettes generally require the replacement of the headliner. Z06 Corvettes do not require a replacement headliner.

When installing a new SMC roof it may sit lower in the opening at the windshield header. Raising the front latch receiver by 1.5 to 2.0 mm will improve this fit issue. If additional fit concerns are found please contact GM Technical Assistance. Packaging issues that caused roofs to arrive at dealerships with broken corners has been address and corrected at SPO. This information is contained in PI# PIC4175
