If this is a newbie question please forgive me. I've been told that I have a "three-quarter" cam in my L82. I know it's not 100% stock and has been rebuilt nicely. She runs great and I can't wait to get it out of the 5500 ft. altitude I live at. Anyone heard this term before?

I had never heard of the term either, so I did a web search and this is what I found:

A type of camshaft for race car engines which increases lift of valve, speed of valve opening and closing, length of time valve is held open, etc. Also called full camrace cam, semi-race cam, or hot cam. According to other information 1/2 cams are also called that as well.

Maybe others have a better definition than what I found.

Old hotrod term for a cam that wasn't stock but a not a full race cam. Usually had a nice lope to it. Used in street cars that were raced also. Back then we didn't have all the cam info, such as lift and duration.
