  1. Drink Tequila on a party binge:puke
  2. Give my wife the "free" 3 month gym membership i won at the lingerie contest at the bar.:confused
  3. remove and reinstall a new dash!!!!!!!:mad
Got er done, with all the digital gauges, looks real nice (actully better than I thought) but what a tiedious major PITA!! The quality of the dash was very good, but the "bolt-in" process sucks, alot of tweaking, grinding, and built up to get items to there same specs, depth fitment and such. A/C lower vents gave me some problems, center gauge bezel went well, but the speedo tach sure made up for it. glove box latch striker to close to shut, had to make a little bridge for it. One word PATIENCE like I said, I aint doin it again.

I would really like to see pictures of this, if you don't mind.

Dash Relacement - Yikes

I guess I will put a dash replacement right up there with a heater core replacement. Now anyone that has done that knows the hourly flat rate book says like 9 hours or so?
I did it in a little over 6 hours. Even cleaned out the evaporator housing, new seals everywhere, adjusted doors to CLOSE all the way, found vacuum switch plug on the wrong fittings (3 ports - which two are correct? - I found out)
also re-routed water shutoff valve rod properly so now the hot water does not continually run thru the heater core. With the doors closing all the way and the hot water turned off, the vacuum switch plug in correctly, my 81 vette's interior is comfortable now. It used to be in the 100's even in winter...lolll

Jon: When you get pics of the dash install up, I'd like to see them. I'm seriously considering going to the all-digital dash in my '77. That is, as long as I can convince my old man to let me mod the interior (usually requires a guarantee that I'll be able to change it back when it comes time to *GASP* pass my baby on to its next daddy.)
