Hey Guys, I took her out for the first drive today. OMG it is AWESOME!!! I couldn't get the X pipe to fit so I went with an "H" pipe. I guess I'll have to send the Dr Gas X back. It was not even close to fitting my 72. The Super Turbo's sound great with the cam lope...
Anyway the new engine ROCKS!!! It has more TORQUE than I expected. At 55 mph it will literally jump when I floored it. I glanced down in about 1 second and was at 80+mph. I haven't really run her hard because I'm trying to get comfortable with her manners!! New shift kit, TQ converter, and 500 ft lbs is quite a change from what I had. Kinda scary, really cool!!! Fred.

Fred,
i am so glad you are loving it!!!!!!!!! it is worth every penny now, isn't it?? it won't take long and you will get used to the way she handles. Vettes handle so nice with big power that is scary to find the limit of out of control. oh yea, are you ready to buy into BFGoodrich stock yet? WAY HAPPY to hear things are rolling nicely, thanks for the update, Brian

Have you put a Traffic Lawyer on retainer yet?

Jon, I feel like your avitar looks!!! Big Stuff Eatin Grin!!!! Fred.

:grinshot

did you change your trans from the stock 350?

Yello77, My 72 came with a th400 automatic. I put a B&M shift kit in the 400. Fred.

LOL
Fred you sound like me. I just got an 81 with a 383 and I cant beleave the power !!!. It is hard to keep your foot out of the Carb :)
Allso the way that the car handles is awesome. I gave my son a ride (24) and I took a corner a bit faster than normal and he said whow it just stayed FLAT no leaning or roll at all.
Have fun !
Earl

Very cool. That should put some of the "C3's are slow" jokers to shame. :D

Joe

Sounds like you are having a good time with your new motor. Enjoy your new found power.:Steer

Hey Fred,

You say you installed a B&M shift kit. May I ask which kit you used and which 'setting' you used? How did this affect your shift, specifically are you happy with the kit?

Ron

Hey...tell me about the 383 build up. I have an 80 that I am wanting to do the same too. Would love some details on the hardware you used for the engine.

On thing I always wondered about was if you had problems hooking the tires up and getting traction.

I have placed a bunch of technical info on both my 383s (mouse and LT1) on my www that may be useful for you.
