3M Clear Bra Kit

I am new to this forum and just recently purchased a 06 C6 with 3,500 miles on it. The car is in excellent condition inside and out and would like to keep it that way. I found a web site that is selling 3M Clear Bra kits (www.invisiblemask.com) and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them. I would like to apply them to the front nose, hood and wheel areas, but I do not want them to be to noticeable. Your suggestions and opinions are very much appreciated.

I did my own wheel areas on my c5 and it really worked well .Didn't really show that much on silver.Looked a lot better than mud flaps .Saved a lot of road rash over 50,000 miles.

Just bought a C6 and I want to protect not only the wheel area but also the lower front.Sort of a mini bra.This car is also silver.

paint color is part of the film choice

We did this on a metallic black 745Li with excellent result. The line at the edge of the film, which was about 1/3 back on the hood, was barely visible; then only under certain lighting and angles. Believe me, I wanted this car perfect! As with any edge, it can be more visible due to dirt or leftover wax.

I watched the expert application, which was done in my home garage before the paint had any pits, but after it was cured fully. There are a variety of films that serve this purpose, 3M being one. Do your homework on this and you will like the result. I have heard that the 3M film is not as transparent as others, but am not an expert.

A big part of this task is a properly cut (fitting) mask. Equally huge is the application, which on a flat surface, just about anyone can do, with good result. On complicated body parts, i.e. complex curves, the application of a good mask approaches an art form.

I recently did the headlights on our Smart. After watching the window tint guy, I chanced it with some freebie film, using the squeegees, sprayers and slightly soapy water I've had for years. I also used a heat gun with great care, to stretch, dry and smooth the film. It took a LOT of time, applying, removing and reapplying. It looks pretty good but not perfect.

For a new gorgeous Vette, I would seriously evaluate reputable professionals to work their artistry.

I have the 3M film on my '08. I was determined that I would protect the paint if I ever bought a new one. I have read that applying on the curves is difficult so I used a local shop that is certified by 3M. They did not use teh pre-cut pattern they cut their own. I could not be happier with the looks and protection.

You have to see the lines from a certain angle and up close or you will not know it is on the car.

Thank You all for the replies. I am definitely going to look into getting this installed. I will feel better driving down the highway knowing that I have this extra protection.
