4+3 OD just went out.

Dilemma is whether to rebuild 4+3 or put something else in. 4-speed section is in verygood condition. Its for a 35th anniversary so I think I know the answer to preserve value but just gutchecking to see if another option wouldn't knock the value down too much 80K original on car.

Any advice?

Yeah, look for a ZF-6 spd. That will give you more satisfaction.

I love my 4+3. I know the zf is easier, but do you really want to lose the race in your racecar.

Loose the race? Come on, you serious think a 4+3 is an upgrade compared to the ZF 6?

A Richmond or Tremec(Keisler) is an upgrade to them both... Both of those are bolt in replacements with no related brain damage (such as flywheels, clutch, etc.)... much better for the DIYer.

There is no way to say it is an upgrade, its old technology. What I am saying is if you ever drive one you must know the fun it is, not having to shift to pick up speed in traffic. I love driving a 4+3 and with a 35th anniversary edition you would lose out on the resale changing what it came with.

Your 4+3 "went out?" What does that mean? What happened to it? What are the symptoms? Most of the things that go wrong with them can be very easily and economically repaired.

Good luck,
