4+3 Tranny Whine--Help!

'86 coupe, 162k, had the OD rebuilt once. Here are the symptoms:

-The trans whines in DIRECT drive
-The pitch of the whine is relative to the speed, not RPMS
-It will still whine if put in neutral and coasting
-When I put it in OD, the whine stops

Is this the throwout bearing?
