461 heads

Probably a little late asking this question but...

I have recently purchased 461 heads for my vette that have the casting year of "64" above the casting number. I've noticed other 461 heads with the casting date identical to ones I've purchased w/o the presence of the year. Why is this?

It's by itself on a slant above the casting number. I'll take a picture if I'm not making sense.

That's probably a foundry pattern number.
