Just upgraded from a 96 LT-4 to an 02 Z06. Found it on line in Detroit and drove it back to Texas about 2 weeks ago. Nothing like a 1400 mile road trip to get acquainted! :D

The Z06 is still stock but am starting the mods with safety first (harnesses, brakes, etc.) after my dad put his Andial Porsche 993 into the wall at our annual trip to Heartland Park road course about 3 months ago. :cry

Question is does anyone have 5 point harnesses on their stock Z06 seats? Regaular C5 seats have the access under the head rest for the shoulder straps but not so in the Z06. So unless you cut your own slits (not what I want to do), you have to go around the edges. Just wanted to hear from anyone who has harnesses on their stock seats on any troubles they have had with this configuration. I would rather sink the money into other mods besides racing seats given that the Z06 is a daily driver.

Hi there TexasZ06,
Welcome to the CAC.
I'd be interested to hear about that too.

Sorry to hear about the 993.

Hey, TexasZ06! Welcome to the CAC!

This question came up- albeit in a less direct fashion- in a thread I started last summer in the Z06 Discussion Forum. Look For Z06Tom's reply (#21) in THIS THREAD. He got his five point harness from LA Performance Division (his post calls it LAPD, which caused a bit of confusion, as I wasn't aware the LA Police were providing aftermarket Corvette products. :L )

It appears to be a fairly simple installation.

Thanks Patrick. I remember reading that thread a day or two ago, but I guess I didn't read all the way to the end because I hadn't seen the harnesses. That's the exact setup I am going for.

I was just looking through this section and came across this thread. As Patrick stated, these do go in pretty easily. You'll need a harness bar in your Z if you don't have a role bar. I've never installed one of those, but I don't think it'd be too hard.

These things make you feel much more connected to the car than the stock belts. On the track, they let you steer with the wheel instead of hanging on with it!

On the track at Mid-Ohio. (Notice the 911 is BEHIND me!!:D )
