Will the 52mil make an improvement on a stock engine?
I've done the common free mods that all have done.
and ported intake and plenum.
Anybody have one they want to sell me?

Alright! Mahalo once again Ken!!
By the way, you happen to know of anybody who might have one for sell?

Summit racing has them sold outright for a bit over 300 bucks...
www.summitracing.com

Although that is a decent price for an outright sale, I paid considerably less for my 52mm throttle body (to replace the one I had) from Callaway Cars - they are at www.callawaycars.com and the guy who handles parts is Ted Rice.
I hope this helps :beer

Mahalo *89x2*
and Thanks Todd for bring this back to the top man.

no problem,get ready for friday night.:D later,Todd.

52 MM Throttle Bodies

After doing some digging, I settled on a machinist out of Illinois. Aside from the milling job, he installs sealed bearings that eliminate the vacuum leaks that cause high idle problems.

Here is his email address: dkoldos@ameritech.net

You can either buy one outright or he will modify yours for you.

If you need a link to some of his ebay auctions, let me know.

Best of luck, keep the shiny side up and between the ditches.

That's funny... I just last night also decided to get a TB from the same guy. He seems very knowledgeable in emails, and that sealed bearing sounded good. Prices are not cheap (figure about $230 + shipping) but it's a genuine GM part with new gaskets.

Spend your money elsewhere

I don't think I would spend my money on a new tb if you have stock engine. There's better places to put that cash: Hi flow air filter, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, hi flow mufflers, removing the air screen on the MAF...

Money well spent

I spent a lot of time on the forums trying to decide what I wanted to do on my 94 that would be cost effective, improve my performance, but not make the car excentric or unreliable as a daily driver.

What I pulled out was that you had to be careful as to whether the writer was evaluating a mod on an L98 or an LT1.

In this specific circumstance, my understanding is that going to 52 mm on an L98 is of no significant benefit due to the size of the intake runners; they would have to be upgraded as well in order to take advantage of the higher air flow through the Throttle Body.

On an LT1, there is general agreement that the intake can benefit from enlarging the Throttle body to 52mm, particularly if you have installed a less restrictive air filter and opened up the breather.

hey everyone,
back to the origanal question, should he try one?he has ported plenum, ported intake, ported aftermarket siemese runners,k&n filter with the lid cut off, a traffic cone intake which flows very good,1.6 full roller rockers which will be installed very soon.i look at the intake system like a straw.the k&n beeing one end of the straw, and the combustion chamber the other side of the straw.he has opened up everything from the filter to the ported intake, now the throttle body is the week spot(or a pinch in the straw)that is the restriction now.then after the roller rockers are installed then maybe some bowl work on the heads will be needed.at the 1/4 mile his car is set-up to shift at 5200 rpms,a high perf rebuilt trans and 3:07 gears, also the car has straight pipes all the way.this car is begging for a bigger throttle body.and if he takes the top cover plate off the old one and puts it on top of the new one, nowone will even know.hey punch, maybe this question should read,'who has a 52mm throttle body they want to sell'.:upthumbs they must work pretty good because you rarely see them for sale used.hey punch,f-it,put the timming gears in too,if it tickles the knock sensors can always sell/trade.try to get everything done before next track night, then say hello greg(inside joke).later,Todd.

hey Punch,
hope you had a good day with your mother.did you ever find a throttle body?later,Todd.

I have jumped on the Koldos band wagon also.
But I elected to not do the bearings and just overbore.
