DETROIT – A new home for a classic American car will soon help pave the way for several new homes for families throughout metro Detroit.

As much work as I've done for that organization you'd think they'd just give that car to me!!

LOL:happyanim:

"General Motors Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson’s personal 1958 Chevrolet Corvette will be auctioned off on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. EST, by the famed Barrett-Jackson Auction Company in Scottsdale, Ariz. All proceeds will be donated by Akerson to Habitat for Humanity Detroit and its efforts to rebuild the Morningside Commons neighborhood located just east of GM’s Renaissance Center world headquarters in downtown Detroit."

Tongue in cheek comment to follow ;)

Habitat for Humanity Detroit to benefit from the sale of the 1958... they should be able to rebuilt a whole community with the net of the sale :chuckle

Yea, Bud you're right. Speaking as someone who does not live there, but is there often, and has raised houses with HFH Detroit, and razed houses in Detroit .. . it really is that bad! Detroit is a fairly large area with large expanses of nothing! Houses that have been burned, or demolished or razed in one way or another litter the area. Really kinda depressing. Then on the other hand there are some (a few) areas of nice housing where people take pride in their houses and neighborhood.
If anyone would like a personalized tour drop on by, we can strap on the flak jackets, and take a ride. maybe even catch a Tigers or Wings game -- - - -OOPS, I forgot there is no more NHL!!
