I would like to replace the ball bearing wheel bearings on the front of a 59 with roller bearings. Has anyone here done this swap before? If so do you have the bearing and seal numbers that you used? Did you run into any problems? I am new to this board but there sure seems to be a lot of good technical information on here. Thanks for the help.

Be sure to tell them you belong to a Corvette club, SUPPOSEDLY you should get a discount. Corvette Central also sells them, but only in sets (at a higher price), and you can buy them individually from Allied.

I have them on my 57, a friend has had them on his 56 for many years.

They are a direct replacement for the ball bearings.

I used the Corvette Central set on my 59.

The seals are the exact ones used as stock with the same numbers.

I did post the bearing numbers some time ago on one of the other forums but from the responses I got, there wasn't that much difference in the price from the bearing houses.

No problems with the tapered set but as I rebuilt the entire front end at the time I can't really determine if there was any real improvement from the ball bearings.

Mark.

My cost for the bearings and seals with shipping was right at $100 from the above source.
