Does anyone know how much play there should be in the clutch cross shaft for a 61 Vette? Right now I do not have a snug fit and am wondering if a little play is acceptable and how critical the tolerance is. Looks a little scarry with no bearings and the shaft just riding on the pivot studs. I've had 7 Vettes over the years but never really thought about this before. Thanks for any help.

Studio dog while we are waiting on a reply.Where in the adirondacs are you .I go up to old forge for snowmobiling

IH2LOSE I'm in Glens Falls just below Lake George. We spend allot of time in Indian Lake, especially in the summer. My wife grew up there and I spent summers there as a kid. Great snow machine trails between Indian Lake and Old Forge as I'm sure you know.

There's a fair amount of lateral slop in the C1 clutch cross shaft when installed; C2's had a different arrangement at the frame end (separate stud, internal spherical ball seats and retainer clip) that made them much tighter. As long as you don't have more than 1/3 of the ball showing at either end, you're OK.
