Claude,
There are no #'s on the hoods to identify them but there are visual clues that will tell you what year a hood came off of. The 61-62 hoods were the same with the notch in the center, 59 hoods varied only slightly from the 60 hood and both were a one year only hood. The 60 hood was basically the same as the 61-62 hood with the exception of the center notch. The 58-59 hoods had the front reinforcement in a slightly more rearward placement and were not as sloped. The change in 60 was to clear the new radiator support for the top tank aluminum radiators introduced in 60, and in 61 the top tank radiator gave way to the top mount radiator with the separate expansion tank. There were some early 60 cars made with the 59 style hood as long as thay were not equipped with the optional Top tank aluminum radiator.
They can be confusing if you have not studied all three styles and know what to look at. Feel free to drop me an Email with a pic of the underside reinforcement at the front of the hood and I can probably identify it for you. You did not say which year you were looking for, but if it is a 61 or 62 that this is a no-brainer, just look for the large notch in the center of the support that clears the radiator mounting strap. Of course, a 58 hood will have the fake louvers on the top and can be spotted from hundreds of feet away! Each years hood is backwardly compatiable but are not forward compatiable.
