I'm in need of advise.
I'm restoring my 64 FI Convertable. I cannot locate a definate answer if my 64 FI car could have come with Power assist brakes or not. Can anyone assist me with the facts on this? Thank you in advance , Clint

Hi Clint,

My understanding is that all of the fuel injected cars from 1963 to 65 were available with the power brake option. There are also GM photos of cars equipped this way in Noland Adams book on the 63 to 67 cars.

As to whether your particular car came with power brakes, you need to verify if there is a metal brace to support the upper bolts on the booster for your car. This brace can be seen by looking in throught the plenum below the grille area in front of the windshield on the driver's side. This brace was installed at the factory and many folks that added power brakes at a later date did not add this brace.

Hope this helps.

Also post some pics of your vette, we would all love to see it

Take care,
Brian

I cannot seem to get pictures into my reply. I have quite a few I've taken through the process. I have since aquired a build book and judjing manual for my car. I see the brace you are refering too.
Owners sure took a lot of parts off this car in the last 40+ years.
