Has anyone had any luck repairing the oil pressure gauges? My original settles at about 10 lds with the engine off and will only go as high as 40 lbs with the engine running. I used a store bought cheapo gauge to see how much pressure I really have and it shows about 60 lbs at at about 2500 rpm. I can't seem find anyone who sells the 64 only complete gauge. I may try to see it the internals from a 65-67 0-80 lb guage will fit into the 64 housing. Anyone ever try this?

Years ago I bought a 65 barn car that someone had shimmed up the spring on the oil pump so much that when I started it, the gauge pegged and would not return. I sent the gauge to one of the clock and gauge rebuilders and he fixed it by taking guts from another gauge and used my gauge face which was perfect after sitting in a dry barn for 15 years or so. If your gauge face is good, I wouldn't accept a replacement gauge, insist on your gauge face back.

I have done what you are talking about years ago on a '64 that I was rebuilding..
All I did was find a new gauge that was the same size,,,,removed the two screws that hold the gauge together from the back....slid one out...popped the needle off [being very careful]on both gages.... then reassembled them.... because of this process may be the reason nobody is selling them now..... It seems to me my final cost was about $35.00 for the new gage guts...
