The 396-425 was a 1 year engine for Corvette and also 1 year at 425HP for the 396.

Although the later 396-375 used all the same part numbers, it had 50 less HP. :L

A long time ago I had the choice between a 65 396-425 and a 66 327-300. I could only afford the 66.

However, given my bad habits of the day, either would have ended up as the 66 did or a driver class Corvette. As one of the youngish (they still exist) gearheads at work said he wished he was around back in the day.
