I have two holes in the fiberglass walls of my tool compartment. Each are the size of a quarter. Not sure how they got there but clearly they were not factory installed. How simple would it be to patch them and what preparation and products should I use? Holes are hidden so the job doesn't have to be perfect. Thanks -- Bill

Hi! Bill

I would hollow grind the holes from the outside to about twice the size of the existing hole. I would then use resin and glass cloth to fill the hole. I start with the first cloth cut (I normally pull the cloth until I have the desired size) rather than cut with scissors to a little larger than the hole, the next would be half way between the hole and the out side edge of the hollow grind and the third would be the size of the hollow grind. After this dries I would repeat the process on the inside. Sand smooth and flush and use a little body filler on the inside only (I like Evercoat products) and then sand and paint.

Hope this helps!

I'm with WNS532-66:

Depending on where they are, the holes may be for removing the diff nose bracket.

yup, plugs

did that myself

My guess, that's exactly why the holes are there but they appear to be man made and not by design. Does that make sense?

Yup - the shop manual procedure calls for dropping the diff and its crossmember, OR hole-sawing the holes, to remove the diff nose bracket bolts; not a great design for service. :eyerole
