67 sbc conv
I am looking for owners of early 67 corvette convertibles body serial numbers. Would appreciate
members with late oct 66 conv. to post their
body build serial numbers. I am trying to accurately
reconstruct my lost data plate if possible
the Sn of my conv. is 102638. ncrs birthday puts it
on oct 28 1966. according to nolen the last sn
for oct is 102685. A body sn just prior and shortly
after my serial # 102638 would be helpful.
Thanks so much

Is it a St. Louis or A.O. Smith body? It matters.

John, I really did not make it clear the trim tag is missing on the
car. I suspect it to be a St. Louis body because of its low serial#
and the strike at the A.O. plant which lasted for several months.
Any closely related data would be helpful.
Thanks

I have data on one St. Louis convertible on each side of yours:

B21 date is body #S0567

D14 date is body #S1967

John,
Thanks so much for the reply.
Could you also supply the car serial numbers for both of the
build dates you mention?

John, Do you have any data on A.O. bodies for early 67. Just a quick
look at the build dates and serial numbers for the St. Louis
bodies infer the car serial numbers will not line up with mine
suggesting they may have had A.O. bodies on hand prior to
the strike.
Any Data or thoughts would be appreiciated

I don't have the VINs for the two examples I posted, and the 67's I DO have both VIN and trim tag data on are much later production. At any one point in time, St. Louis had 50-100 A.O. Smith bodies on hand, and they used about 50-60 per day. Serial numbers (for both A.O. Smith and St. Louis bodies) weren't assigned until the beginning of the Hard Trim Line - A.O. Smith bodies didn't have a serial number until they actually entered the production line at St. Louis - all they had was a trim tag when they came off the rail car.
