68 tripower intake question..

I've found a numbers matching 68 tripower 400hp.The previous owner is selling it with original dated carbs but w/a 435 hp intake.
Will a 435 hp intake work on a 400hp car??

I believe the 400hp engine should have oval-port heads, the 435hp rectangular-port heads, they will not interchange

Yes, it will, but obviously not at its optimum due to the slight "step" at the port interface (large rectangular ports on the intake, slightly smaller more oval-shaped ports on the heads).
