I was searching around the forum and read somewhere that the original rim size of the 68 was 15x7, then Chevrolet went to a 15x8 in 69. I've been shopping around to replace my rims and every site I've been to, they quoting 15x8 for a 68 model. So which is correct and who has the best deal on original style rims?

Thanks!

Thats correct. The only place that I know of that you can buy "exact "replacements is Corvette America. They also sell a "replacement wheel but the offset is a little different. If you look for used ones look for an "ag "code next to the valve stem. The 15x8 wheels should say "az".

Thanks for the tip on Corvette America Paintdaddy. The actually have a pretty good deal. For $79, you can get an O.E.M. Rallye Wheel, O.E.M. Trim Ring, O.E.M. Rallye Hubcap with Center, lugnuts, and Rallye Wheel Paint. I don't know why I would need wheel paint if they're painted silver already, but what the heck.
The prices I've been seeing are $59 just for the wheel!

Thanks Again.

Are you sure that is the O.E.M. Rally Hubcap and not the cheap plastic one? The original steel type run from $50 to $75 each.

tom...

Yikes! I was very wrong. $79 is just for the rim. if you want the full set with everything else, its $800+.

$79 is not a bad deal depending on your capabilities or your energy level. You can find a used set at a swap meet for about $200 or a little more but they will need to be beed blasted primed and painted. If you count your time as money ,you have that much or more in them when your done.
