I'm having a ton of trouble leveling my doors. Both passenger and driver side doors. The gap between the door and the fenders at the bottom is almost non existent. The top of both doors has a pretty big gap. I have the door shims, and tried different combos on the passenger side, and haven't used any on the drivers side yet. If anyone knows maybe the standard number of shims you have to use on the top and bottom, and maybe I can work from there. This is a concern because it seems the bottom of the door is chipping the fiberglass on the fenders. Please help. :mad

Also if anyone knows... I have been trying to install the drivers side mirror. There are two holes on the outside of the door, and 1 hole on the inside.. How am I suppose to bolt the mirror bracket on? It boggles my mind. Thanks

mirror mounts on base 2 screws go into door securing base single screw passes thru mirror and secures to base. door fit is more indepth you dont say if the panels are misaligned by edge gap or panel height.

First, to prevent chipping the paint on the door and fender edges, get some 3M green painters masking tape. Use the tape to mask off the edges to prevent the chipping. Use 2-3 layers for max protection.

In aligning the door, you want to align the body line at the top of the rear fender to the top of the door at the door handle, with a level gap across the bottom of the door and a even gap between the rear of the door and the front bottom half of the door up to the beltline. The front top half of the door from the belt line up typically has a wide gap from the factory. At the front of the door, it isn't possible to have a even gap from top to bottom.

Hang the door and snug up your door bolts without using any shims. Aim for a 1/8" to 3/16" level gap across the bottom of the door, with the door centered left and right in the door opening. Look at the body line at the door handle area. Loosen the door bolts and adjust up or down to align, keeping the bottom of the door level. Once you have the top of the door body line aligned, check the gap at the bottom front of the door, and adjust the door from left to right as needed to prevent the front bottom edge of the door from hitting the rear of the fender, again, keeping a level bottom door gap. Once the door is aligned front to rear and top to bottom and opens without hitting the fender edges, you can start to add shims. Working on one hinge at a time, add shims to bring the front door edge out level with the rear of the front fender panel. Once you have the front of the door leveled with the fender, tighten your door bolts. To adjust the rear of the door level with the front of the rear fender panel, adjust the door striker bolt. Once you have the door aligned, sit back and :happyanim:.

Aligning the doors isn't a quick easy project, so take your time and make your adjustments in small increments. Good luck on your project.
