69 rear suspension

I recently bought a 69 l-46 conv. I was under it cleaning over the weekend and found 2 cables 1 on each side going from outside strut arm bushing to the inside strut arm bushing.Does any one know why these would have been put on. It is about 1/4 inch cable wrapped around the bushings and clamped on each end. They are not holding anything, the one on the r s is very loose. Any ideas or answers would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think the answer you got on the NCRS board pretty well nailed it down- not factory installed. Looks like your car had a trip to Bubbaland!
