1982 Vette. I have a cracked alternator belt guide, the curved piece of metal that is bolted to the 70 amp alternator bracket. I have welded, ground down and repainted it, and it's OK. Cannot get a replacement from Zip or Mid America. Anyone know of other applications for this piece, so I can start searching the wrecking yards ( I mean, the alternate parts supply point)? Thanks in advance.

If you did that you're probably OK. I don't have one on my 75 and I haven't had a problem with the belts. My 78 has it but it doesn't really seem like it does anything.

I have owned my '82 for 23 years and it's been running without that belt guide the whole time. It's not necessary so I suggest tossing it into your trash can.
