does anyone know if they are still avail.? where can they be purchased and possible pro's?con's?

I have a set of Hooker headers and pipes, still in he boxes with glass packs. I was going to install them, but decided against it.

You can get them almost anywhere. Try www.summitracing.com 1-800-230-3030. There are used ones, and ones like Boater just mentioned.

It is the single most awesome thing you can do to your old shark. No cons at all.....except the first 3rd degree burn on the back of your leg... It will only happen once though.

What kind of side pipes...?

What type of pipes do you recommend? I saw a set of hookers, complete with headers, for about $1000. What do you think?

Hookers are the coolest especially with Glass packs. $1000 is a good price. New they are about $1300.

LIBoater (you there?)

LI Boater: I have a 73 w/o any exhaust. Would you be willing to part with yours?

Speaking of......

I just bought the freaky spiral baffles to insert in my side pipes. It will be a bit before I get around to it, but it should make the car sound super wicked.

I need to get a audio clip before/after.

Just make sure when you do that that you fill in the rear exhaust pipe tip holes right away. Nothing looks more strange than coming up behind a shark with no exhaust pipes, no muffler tips, no mufflers (exposed from the rear), but two huge holes on each side where they should be....then you hear it roaring and your brain freaks out trying to figure it out.

Kritter:

Im not sure which ones I am going to install, I mean keeping the Header/Cherry Bombs or installing the Header / Side pipes. You can have the ones I dont keep. I'll be looing for about $1300 for the sides and 800 for the headers

I have the side exhaust from Mid America on my 70 vert.. The fiberglass covers are painted black and they look great. It really fills the car out nicely.

They were really cool for the first couple of month but the they are way to loud the drive the car for extened periods of time. I am selling them in a couple of month if you want them.

I am going to try the rear exit chambered exhaust. The same great sound but exiting the rear of the car instead of beside my head.

Willing to Sell Sidepipes...

Are they the stock 69 pipes that they sell in mid america, or are they hookers, or some other brand?? What kind of muffler is in there? And how much are you willing to sell them for??

Thanks
Andrew

Side exhaust for sale

I am considering getting rid of the side exhaust. I believe it was originally purchased from Eckler's but is similar to the Mid America design and looks lile the factory 69 design.

Your welcome to come by and take a look and listen to them since I live in Allen. I am probably going to be in a position to pull them off the car in a month or so. Price can be negeotiated.

Let me know if you are interested.

Pipes for sales

J,
of course im interested. Can you give me a rough figure to work on for now, and we can negotiate later. I'm pretty strapped for cash. tell me a good time to come over and i can take a look at those pipes, or you can email me those pics...

I was thinkin about putting side pipes on this past summer but i decided to go with some other mods. So my 100$ solution to a 1300 dollar problem was: build my own exhaust. I bought 2.5 inch straight pipe and two dynomax performance mufflers(advance auto parts special!) I then turned my attention to the rack full of exhaust peices and parts ex. 90s, hangers, extensions, etc. and bought two 90 degree 2.5 inch pipes. i took the 2.5 inch left over straight pipe and cut them at an angle, filed and cleaned them up nicely for tips. I used the 90s to turn out right in front of my rear wheel(barely noticeable under the rocker panel). I bought some exhaust hangers and made the system sit like i wanted it to. I was very unsure of what it would sound like. I thought it would sound way too loud or either really crappy. !BOY! was i wrong. I wish i could package this system and sell it. It sounds awesome and looks good. The first thing people tell me is how great it sounds. Its great for me too since i can unbolt it fast and run open header. Think i should try to package it and sell it? i will post pics tomorrow.
