I have a 73 with the 350 and the stock air cleaner is it possible to mount snorkle hoses to the two air cleaner outlets and rout them to get cold air? I was just wondering if its possible and if it would help by getting cold air to the carb. Th stuff Im thinking of is like what you see in other cars not sure wich ones but I have seen them.

I think the type of snorkel hose youre talking about , is like aluminum dryer vent hose which comes in 3 and 4" dia. Dont know where you can take the fresh air from in your engine bay, but i can attest to cold air really helping performance especially when it get cold outside. On a BB motor, they say its good for about 15 h.p., so...maybe 10 h.p. on a SB (??) . I have an L88 hood with fresh air chamber on mine and really like the setup ; it allows you quite a bit more height for carb spacers, taller intake manifold, etc...while taking in cold air all the time.

Just remove the valve in the hood air induction system and you can have outside air to the engine all the time.

Why use the snorkle? you already have the cold air induction built into the hood.
