Have any of you ever had this problem. The a peice of the fiberglass hood broke off from the hood hinge on my 73 Vette. Now I have to prop the hood open with something. What can I do?

That area is prone to alot of stress, mine has broke also, hard to repair and provide the same structural strength. I bought a new hood.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks. I'll keep using a golf club to prop it open for now.

Have you done any fiberglass work? You can probably repair the break, provided you have the pieces.

No I have not. The piece is still attached to the hinge. Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into it.

I have tried that, it is a hard area to to repair, even with a backing plate something on the lines of the bonding strip, the repair still did not hold up without cracking.
Certainly give it a try, it will save a bunch of money for sure, just don't know how long it will last. I wanted an aftermarket hood anyway!

An aftermarket hood sounds sure appealing, but l'll ask some autobody people around town to look at it first. Thanks for all the help.
