Do you know of any way to convert a '73 rear window to being the popout style of the earlier C3's? I love my '73 but I also love the idea of the popout rear window.

rear window

I recently did the change over. All the parts are still avaliable except the glass ,this can be found on ebay easily for about $100.00.You need weatherstrip, new upper rear pannels to accomodate the 2 chrome latches.2 bottom plastic plates with metal supports. All the mounting spots are obvious once rear panels are removed. You can also find a fiberglass window tray that mounts on hinges in the upper rear compartment to hold window when removed. All parts cost about $350.00 and takes 1 day to install.Use wire cable to remove old window and clean out old putty. Turns your coupe into a convertable with a roll bar!!!.

I JUST completed putting the removable rear window in my '73. It was not too difficult. The hardest part is gettign the right weather stripping for the new window. I thought I would save some $$ and buy the stuff at Auto Zone but then it was too thick and I ended up butchering it to get the window to "snap" into place. Definitley worth the effprt though. And I did not get new upper rear interior panels, again to save $$ I cut my original ones and then painted the cut areas. They fit perfectly!

So, when you say the parts are still available new, except the glass, where do you get them? From dealer or aftermarket?

Thanks for the great responses.
