Need a little help with my newly acquired 76 Vette. I have a problem with both doors that want to close. I've done my research and I have found that I need to replace the "S" door springs in each of the doors. I have determined that neither of the springs are in my doors, they are totally missing. I have read and printed all info submitted on this problem in CAC, yet I'm still unable to grasp just where these springs go and how they work. Would someone be so kind to take a couple of digitial pictures of these installed correctly in their corvette doors and perhaps some advice on installing them. Some close ups of the spring location areas would be most helpfull.

Thanks for any assistance.....

The Corvette Central catalogue shows hinges with the springs installed and also the replacement springs. It's doesn't hurt to order the spring installation tool when you order the replacement springs. Search on Doors 1976 and go to page 4.

Check the bushings also, they can let your door drop a little, I just changed out the complete hinges. But, then you have to have them painted first and its a good job to change out the hinges and align the door back up.

I replaced the springs in my 76 doors and its not that big a deal, get the tool its cheap and helps a lot. I can take some pics tonight if you still need them.
If I remember you have to hold the springs in place then pry them into the stops, I will look at it again when I get home, it only took about 10 minutes a door as I remember.

Thanks, got picture of what I need already
