77 L-82

I just purchased a '77 L-82 4 speed. The car has CLD suffix code and matching numbers. It has a cast iron intake manifold. I thought the L-82 had an alumnium intake. Could someone help me learn more about the L-82 engine? Thank you, Stu

I seem to remember my 74 having a cast manifold, but don't quote me on that.

We have several members here with the same engine option. Let's see what they know.

Late L82's had alum intake, early ones had iron. Not sure when the change took place but think it may have been '78. Believe your 77 should have iron intake. Can anyone confirm the change over? (By the way, the intakes are the same, just one is lighter then the other).

Tom is right on. The 77 is cast iron the 78 L82 was aluminun. Chuck
