78 l 82 exhaust manifolds 2inch or 2.5 inch?

Considering buying the chambered exhaust from mid america and I need to know which size to purchase did the l 82 come with 2 and 1/2 manifolds or 2 inch ?

any input appreciated.

All SB exhaust manifolds from '66-up were 2".

Are you changing the exhaust manifold?
If you are putting on chambered exhaust, e.g. mufflers I believe the pipe is 2 1/2" I may be completely wrong, but I recall the 81's came with 2 1/2" exhuaust pipe, even with the smaller size exhuast manifold..

Hopefully JohnZ or someone that knows for sure will help out here :confused

I am just trying to determine which kit I need to order for my 78, by johnz's post i am thinking i should order the 2 inch kit. I need to know which size buckles to the manifolds 2 or 2.5 - that is the question.

Even those cars that came with 2-1/2" pipes (like the L82's) had a tapered short pipe down to the 2" manifold dump.
