78 Pace Car build date

Does anyone know for sure the first day of 78 Pace Car assembly? I have read and been told that it was March 1, 78. My Pace Car has a very low VIN(single digit) and I know it had to be built on the first day of production. But my trim tag is G(March)18. Another owner with a VIN in the 30's that I talked to also has the G18. Is there an explanation for the discrepency? I actually prefer if the production started March 18 as that was also my 25th Birthday!

One thing to check on both cars is the vin on a true Pace car it was 1Z87L8S900001-1Z87L8S906502

I'm talking about the last one or two numbers of the VIN. Should have made myself clearer. 1Z8748S90000x.
