on my 1978 pace car. the electrical trouble shooting manual i have says it should be dark green. my sensor (located on the driver's side of the engine under the exhaust manifold toward the rear a bit) doesn't have anything connected to it, and i don't see a dark green wire just hanging near the area. could someone tell me where the wire enters the engine compartment through the cowl (engine side firewall)??? at least i could attempt to trace it out from there if it even enters the engine compartment at all.
thanks for the help.

Did you look on the other side? If your engine has been changed maybe someone put a head with a sensor on the other side.

The wire should be coming off the harness under the left fender edge where the hood opening is, just opposite your #3 and #5 cylinder, just above the steering box.

Check in the area of the red 12 gauge wires that go to the alternater. The green for the temp. sending unit should be right there, too.

thanks for all the help. the car is all original, numbers match. no problem finding the sender as i have the exhaust manifolds off and it is pretty obvious in it's location. i needed to know where to start looking for the wire for it as there is nothing connected to the sending unit and nothing dangling near it. i'll give it a good look over, this evening when i get a few minutes. i appreciate all the help.

mkapp7879 vbmenu_register("postmenu_554175", true); thanks for the guidence. it was exactly where you said it should be, but someone at some point in time had taken it and "secured" it by putting it back along the original path of the harness, tucking it pretty much out of sight.
thanks again.
