79 Elec fan thermal switch

I have a 79 l-82, with the factory aux electric fan. The thermal switch is located on the pass side between the headers and is stuck on. I spent about an hour at the dealership trying to locate a replacement, after they made many calls to the "general" we found out it was only used on 79-80 vettes. and of course the part is discontinued. Anyone have any ideas about getting a replacement? Ive tried the national chains, corvette houses that i know of, and forum search...... there has got to be an aftermarket out there somewhere righ?, i really don't want to bubba a switch into my glove compartment.

thanks, im not sure that will work right though, it seems to be more like a low voltage relay switch instead of the regular circuit switch that i need.

any arguments/corrections greatly appreciated

works well!!!

Try Mid-America Motor Works at Order Toll Free: 866-350-4540, they show a fan control switch kit (p/n 601-972) for an C4 & C3 81 -82 yrs, but text states it is also a replacement for OEM switches. May be that this switch is an replacement for the one in your 79. Hope this helps.

81's have a switch too, and if memory serves it was like $30! But I know it's there...

Pretty sure the 81/82 fan switches are different fitting size and won't screw into the earlier heads. Maybe an adapter?
