79 shimmy

Steering wheel on my 79 just started to shimmy when I go over bumpy road, Figure it is a ball joint problem or tie rod end. Have not looked at suspension yet. Any thoughts or suggestions about what I should look for. Thanks

When were the tires last balanced?

Tie rod ends and/or drag link (steering box link).

You might want to switch rear tires to front & see if it's a tire issue. Otherwise, how old is front suspension? Ball joints, idler arm? How many miles on them.

Good point about the wheel bearings:dance
Check them by jacking the car up and tugging on the wheel side to side & up an down. There should be no movement.

don't forget the idler arm. they tend to wear out the fastest of all the components.....
