Need some help !! My first problem was that my drivers headlamp was not going up. Found it to be a bad seal leaking at the boot on the actuator. So I ordered a rebuild kit for the actuators and installed them. Rebuilt them both. They work great, open strong and equally. Now the problem I am having is when I hit a good size bump in the road the headlamps open up then close emediately. Also when the lamps are in the off position, when I turn the car off the lamps open. I checked all my springs, the vacuum lines, everything seems to be in the right place. Can anyone give me some insight on this problem. Would be highly appreciated. Thanks. Maybe a check valve to keep them in the closed position until I turn the headlamp switch on??:crazy

When I first got mine, everytime I shut the engine off the right headlight would pop up. Turned out to be the Vacuum check valve. They cost about 10 bucks.

Thanks for the input Rich. Mine is doing it on the drivers side so it sounds like that could be the fix. Where is this check valve located? Is it the check valve that is in the vacuum line up in the intake manifold area?

Corvettecentral.com part # 443037 Vacuum Hose Check Valve. Thats what took care of my headlight going up...Hopefully this will help. Its located right behind your carburator laying on the intake manifold. Three hoses going into it. Follow the link below or go on Corvettecentrals web site, type in the part no. and click on the window and you can look at the part. Good Luck!!
