Please tell me there is a special trick to installing a booster on a 81. Do I have to drop the steering colum and dash cluster to get to the upper studs? I would appreciate any help. Thanks, Chris
You do have to be some kind of contortionist to maneuver your hands to the 2 top nuts.
Generally, disconnect the rear base of the master cylinder from the brake booster's front side (in the engine compartment side). Do not disconnect brake lines.
Remove the 4 nuts
Disconnect the rod from the brake pedal. You'll probably have to get a couple of hours at the local masseuse, but it is that straight forward.
Remove the seat for sure. Also you will need a deep socket, u-joint and 12" extension to get the upper nut off. Take a couple of Motrin when you are done.
