I everyone ,

Purchased another 81 few days ago in very bad shape, do not think it can be saved. Severe head on collision. Had hopes of re-building, however the floor pan is twisted and most of the rear body is cracked everywhere.

While tearing it down I found a few things that maybe someone can shed a little light on.

I found only one wiring harness to the back of the car, not two like my other one has. And no provisions for the ECM system, appears that it never had it.

Trans crossmember totaly different. Mount in the middle of the crossmember. The drive shaft is smaller in dia and is alot shorter.

This car does have a reconstructed title which could account for the trans crossmember issues but not the lack of wiring harness and ECM. VIN has been verified as an 81 and it has not been re-attached to a different body, frame serial the same.

Any thoughts? ;shrug

The ECM wiring is a seperate wiring harness through the car. Is somebody has the time you could totally remove it and you would never see it ever was there (apart from small things)

Thanks for the info.

All 81s and 82s had the ECMs. You have to figure a previous owner removed it from your car.
