I was stripping the front bumper on my 81 today because I am doing a full color change and it turns out there is alot of filler in it...What I am wondering is are these bumper supposed to be flexible or are they supposed to be fiberglass because I went to ecklers to buy a new one and they sell two different types...what one should I get?? Do any of you have good ones for sale??

Thanks,
John Dykstra

John,

Original equipment would be the poly flex type. The fiberglass is an after market.

The originals tend to get wavy over the years and people have gone to the fiberglass to avoid the ripple looking front and rear ends of the "Rubber Bumper Corvettes"

There is good and bad about each.. Fiberglass breaks or cracks when bumped good and hard, the poly flex's to a point, then damages..

personally I prefer the poly original type nose and rear.

I was thinkin poly was the original but just making sure I think that this is why there is so much filler in it....It got wavy so they slapped some mud in there My teacher and I were kinda scrathin our heads when we saw the whole top of the bumper was filler.
