Question: 81 Turn blinkers on the blink...

New to forum, new corvette owner (81 coupe). Turn blinkers don't work, ordered manual, said to check reverse lights and if not working then a fuse. Reverse lights not working and yes fuse blown, replaced and blinkers, turned on ignition, flashers worked for five blinks and fuse blew, replaced fuse and ok until ignition turned on, then 30 seconds later (without using blinker) fuse blew, replaced fuse and removed flasher unit, turned on ignition and 30 seconds later fuse blew. Emergency Flashers work (exterior not interior).
Any suggestions on next step?

always look for the low hanging fruit first.

if they blink then the fuse blows than that tells me you have a short in the wiring. but not a dead (direct) short

Does the car have any aftermarket stuff? radio, fog lights, gauges etc?

If so, I would systematically disconnect anything the previous owner(s) installed and retest.

Look under the dash for wires that MIGHT have been modified for electrical things the previous owner removed before selling the car. (like a power amp or even a cb. Many times people forget to tape up the wires they were using for these luxery items.

if the vettes turn signal wiring in the column is like most other GM's the column has probably rubbed a bare spot in the wiring. My trans am did this and took long time to find the short but where the wiring comes out of the turn signal "cam" or whatever you want to call it. then it makes a sharp bend and runs down the inside of the steering column.

It is at this sharp bend where yours could be shorting out too. You have to remove the steering wheel and a couple other parts to see the wiring ..... May not be your problem though.
